It's almost that time of year again - me and

bitofaspaz are going on our  now 3rd annual road trip to The Pinery!  I'm so excited, and this year for a little extra adventure, we have decided to camp there for a few nights.  Yes we are being brave - I don't have much camping experience, but seriously, we're not in the middle of no where.  I have a tent and an air mattress, a cooler and sleeping bags.  The place has showers, water and even a tuck shop so I'm sure we'll be fine.  I plan to spend most of the day on the beach, and nights we can have a campfire and roast marshmellows etc.  My kid's going to love this!

I'm taking about three weeks off in July - this is the most vacation I've had at any one time, I'm really looking forward to it.

Cheers everyone!

I saw the new Indiana Jones movie - and you know what - Harrison Ford is still very hot!!

Loved the movie - can't wait to buy it!

Off tomorrow for a Dr. appointment

Both my sisters are pregnant!!!  They both wanted seconds and were having problems, one with fertility, one with a major illness that prevented her from trying.    My sister who's sick was in remission from her illness just long enough to get pregnant- I'm so happy for them. - They are both due around Christmas time - we'll have two little ones around - yipee!

So me and my hubby and son are out getting a slice of pizza and in walks another child about the same age as my son and instantly he perks up and goes up and says hello, starts a conversation about what kind of pizza is his favorite - and in about 30 seconds they are talking about the things they have in common and playing really well together.

Maybe it's because Matt- my son is an only child - he just sees playmates - he's often like this with people.  Do we all start with this kind of confidence - we don't see race, colour or disability/ability and filter out potential "friends" ?  I thought - if he was an adult or a teenager - he'd be labelled a freak or get the snot kicked out of him - but as a child he has this wonderful opportunity to meet interesting people - even if only for a moment - both of these two kids had a wonderful experience.  Or is it because of the collecting of these experiences that this confidence grows?

Anyway - it was nice to see my son have fun with another kid.

Cheers!

I finally saw Sweeney Todd - and OMG - is Alan Rickman ever hot in that movie - He's Snape - but dirtier - LOVE it.  Not my kind of man any more but very hot to look at.

Johnny looks totally hot too - I love the hair and the sunken eyes yumm.

And well even Helena - her low cut tight corsets - yeah - she looked hot too.

Loved this film - highly recommend it if you like kind of dark and twisted gorry pics.

Also - not sure if I mentioned - I got in to the Harvard program in June - I'll be there for 4 days.  I'm pretty excited about this.

And - I've applied for a new job at my company and I have my interview next week.  I'm a bit nervous.  I have to think about some potential partnerships and programs that I would like to develop.  I already have a plan - an "upstream" program and a "downstream" program.  I just need to put the plan in a coherent presentation.

The committee is interviewing 7 people.  2 internal and 5 external.  I have some pretty good competition.  I've already figured out that the things in that job that I like I can do in my current position, however, that position also comes with a higher salary - that would not be to bad and it would bring me closer to my end goal.  I'm having a bit of an internal conflict, because while I would love the job - I would also like to have some new energy brought to our management team.  We are all stretched a bit thin these days.

Any way - that's what I'm obsessing over these days.

What a week it's been.  For a 4 day week I feel like I've put in about 6 days.  It's not just been my day job either, I volunteer on a board of a women's centre, and had meeting, I also had my own organization's board meeting this week - that's two late nights.  Also I've applied for another senior management position within my organization.  Just preparing my resume and cover letter has been a great experience.  I'm pretty sure I will not get the position, I'm applying more as a way to indicate to my boss that I am very interested in the strategic planning and evaluation work that is happening.  I think she already knows this, but it's nice to have a formal way of expressing it.

AndI'm hoping that mellacita will appreciate this, since she's travelled the world doing evaluation work.  In my organization we have really been focusing on doing evaluation work, and one of our problems has been creating a culture of evaluation.  To help management with this we are having several of our managment team apply to Harvard's Executive training program - Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations. I'm one of the people who has applied - so I'm pretty excited about the possibility of going.  Wish me luck!

Cheers everyone and hope you have a great weekend!

I'm off to the zoo today for some Easter egg hunting! :)

Hibernation is a state of inactivity and metabolic depression in animals, characterized by lower body temperature, slower breathing, and lower metabolic rate. Hibernation conserves energy, especially during winter."

Well  not -  quite but our forecast is calling for tons of snow and basically we have prepared to be in the house for the day.  Movies and groceries and some games.  Home we don't get too stir crazy!

Angelo has already shovelled snow twice and the heavy snow has just really started.

Oh yeah - Michael Clayton was a pretty neat movie.

Where has my Christmas tree gone - It's so windy outside that it has blown away!  In it's place is someone else's blue box and down the street I can see a plastic wrapped tree - definitely not mine.  :)

Cheers to all!

Watching transformers - again - I like this movie more and more every time I see it. Matthew loves it so it is on regularly.

This week has been very stressful - I have broken out in hives - that only happens when things are really bad. I'm glad it's the weekend - I'm going to relax a bit, clean up a bit and shop a bit. Next week will be better - some of the problems have been resolved.

Next week I'm also planning on going to body blitz with bitofaspaz for her b-day. I'm pretty excited - it's such a relaxing place.
